Blank map of the UK
The outline, free as a PNG, SVG or PDF. Label it, colour it in or drop it into a slide.

Using a blank map of the United Kingdom
The UK is the sort of outline that ends up on a slide, a poster or an infographic. Choose Outline only for the shape of the country, or With borders for the 232 administrative areas, and take either as a PNG on a transparent background, an SVG or a PDF on A4 or Letter. None has names.
On a slide
The PNG takes the colour behind it, so a deck in any theme shows only the shape of the UK. Put the With borders PNG behind a headline, or beside three numbers, and use the area lines as texture. For a report cover, Outline only is calmer: one shape, with room for a title and a date beside it.
In a design tool
With 232 areas, the SVG is the version to edit. Open it in Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma, select the areas that make up a patch and give them one fill; the rest stay neutral. You can thicken or thin the area lines, or cut the shape out as a badge for a leaflet. The vector lines stay sharp when you enlarge them.
For labelling and display
In a worksheet, number a dozen areas on the With borders PNG and leave a column of boxes beside it; the list further down this page is the answer sheet. For a quicker task, use Outline only and ask pupils to give the sheet a title and a key of their own.
Choosing and finishing
The political blank map of the UK is the With borders version. When you need names, pins or colours, choose Customise this map. For paper and ink options, see the printable map of the UK, and for the areas on their own, the blank map of UK counties.

Questions people ask
What is the difference between Outline only and With borders?
Outline only is the shape of the UK with nothing inside it. With borders adds the lines of its 232 administrative areas. Neither version has names, so all labels are yours to add.
Is there a political blank map of the UK?
Yes. The With borders version is the political blank map of the UK, with 232 areas drawn as separate shapes and no names.
Can I make the outline bigger without it going blurry?
Yes. The SVG and the PDF are vector files, so the UK and its area lines stay sharp at any size. Open the SVG in Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma to scale or restyle it.
Is there a blank map of UK counties on its own?
Yes. The blank map of UK counties has its own page, with the administrative areas as the main version. This page is the whole country, with Outline only and With borders.
