Who we are

MapMaker.so is run by Riverforge Ltd, a company in the UK. By using the site you agree to these terms, so please read them; they are short.

The service

MapMaker is a map editor that runs in your browser, with pages for places and templates, printable PDFs and maps to embed on a website. It is free during launch, and you don't need an account to use it.

Using MapMaker

Use MapMaker for any lawful purpose: at school, at work, at home or for something you publish. Please don't:

• use it to make maps that break the law, or that harass or threaten anyone;
• try to break, overload or get around any part of the site, for example by sending large numbers of requests to the routes that draw images and PDFs;
• pass off the site, or its pages and templates, as your own.

Your maps

The maps you make with MapMaker are yours to use: print them, put them in a slide, a report, a lesson or a post, at work or at home. The printable PDFs carry the footer line "Made with mapmaker.so: free printable maps" and the embeds carry a credit link, "Map by MapMaker.so"; please keep them in place.

Your maps are saved only in your own browser. If the browser's data is cleared or the device is lost, they are gone, and we can't restore them, so download a copy of any map you want to keep.

The map data

The borders, coastlines, regions and city names come from Natural Earth, a public domain dataset. By default the maps show boundaries as recognised internationally. Every map simplifies the world, so a line or a name may not be exactly where you expect it: please don't use MapMaker's maps for navigation or to settle a legal question.

Features marked Pro

Some downloads in the editor are marked "Pro · free during launch". They are free for now. Later they may need a paid plan, and we will announce that on the pricing page before it happens.

As it is

We provide MapMaker as it is, without guarantees. We work to keep it running and the maps right, but we can't promise the site will always be available or free of mistakes. We may change, add or remove features.
