Ideas for a map of South African provinces
Nine provinces make a map that is easy to colour in full: a sales slide with one colour for each province, a depot network, a class chart. This one opens in the editor with all 9 drawn as separate shapes, and the cities that anchor most plans are a pin away.
Branches, depots and field teams
Pin Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria with the city search to show where the branches are, then colour the provinces by the team that covers them. With only 9 shapes, each team can have a colour of its own and a legend line that names it. The editable map of South Africa opens the same provinces drawn for the country, and Neighbours adds Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini and Lesotho for a regional slide.
Class work and trips
Pupils can colour each province as they cover it and add a title and legend for a display. For a trip, pin the cities you will see, link them with a route and numbered stops, and put the PNG in an itinerary. A road trip between Johannesburg and Cape Town is a route of two stops; add Durban and it becomes three.
Getting the look right
Start on the page: pick a colour and click a province. The Province lines switch shows or hides the lines between provinces, which is useful when you want the country to read as one block. Customise this map opens the editor with the provinces in the place list, including Gauteng, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal, so you can pick them by name. Minimal suits a board paper, Dark a deck with a dark theme and Vintage a trip poster.
Slides and files
For a slide, use the 16:9 canvas, then save a PNG with Transparent on or use Copy image and paste. A provinces slide with a short table beside it suits a quarterly review. The map for PowerPoint page has more on decks. SVG opens in Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma, and a PDF on A4, Letter or A3 is for print.

Can I show the countries around South Africa?
Yes. The Neighbours switch in the bar on the map draws the surrounding countries in grey, so a slide can show Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini and Lesotho beside the provinces.
Can I add Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban?
Yes, in the editor. Add your cities opens the pin tool with the city search; type a city and the pin lands in place with a label you can edit, and a route can join several pins.
How do I put the map into a Google Slides deck?
