Printing a map of Puerto Rico
This sheet is a single outline of Puerto Rico, a PDF for A4 or Letter in colour or black and white. There are no regions inside it and no names on it, so there is only one version to choose; what you do with it is up to you.
Using a plain outline
An outline with nothing drawn inside it is a good place to start a map. Younger children can mark four cities with a dot each, San Juan, Mayagüez, Ponce and Arecibo, and copy the names from the board beside the dots. Older pupils can draw a route that visits all four, in the order they choose, and compare routes with a neighbour to see whose is shortest.
A simple quiz asks pupils to place two or three more of their own towns on the outline and write a short note about each. Several copies side by side make a display where every sheet is a different route.
On the printer
Black and white is the right choice for a class set that will be photocopied, because pupils colour it themselves. Colour is for a display copy. Print at 100% so that copies match, or use "fit to page" if your printer cuts the edge.
When the sheet needs more than the outline, use the bar on the map to colour the shape or show the countries around it in grey with Neighbours, then Download your map. For names, a title or A3 paper, choose Customise before printing. If you want the outline as an image for your own worksheet, the blank map of Puerto Rico has it as a PNG, an SVG and a PDF.
How to do it in MapMaker

Questions people ask
Which versions of the printable map of Puerto Rico are there?
One: the outline of Puerto Rico, as a PDF for A4 or Letter, in colour or black and white. It has no regions inside it and no names printed, so it works as a labelling sheet as it is.
Can I mark the largest cities on it?
Yes, by hand: San Juan, Mayagüez, Ponce and Arecibo are the four largest cities. For a copy with them already pinned, choose Customise before printing and add each one with Find a city.
How do I add names or a title before printing?
Choose Customise before printing. The editor opens the same map, where you can show names, add a title under Canvas, then Title, and download a PDF on A4, Letter or A3.
Can I print it in black and white?
Yes. Choose Black and white before you download, and the PDF prints without colour. That saves ink on a class set and gives children a clear outline to colour themselves.
