Blank map of Syria

The outline, free as a PNG, SVG or PDF. Label it, colour it in or drop it into a slide.

Using a blank map of Syria

For a slide, a worksheet or a design, the shape of Syria is the only thing needed, and this page offers it in the form your program takes. Outline only is the country as a single shape. With borders adds the lines between its 15 administrative areas. Each version comes as a PNG on a transparent background, an SVG and a PDF for A4 or Letter.

In slides and documents

A presenter can put the PNG on a slide in the deck's colours. The transparent background lets those colours show through, so the outline sits cleanly on the slide, and a title or a few short points can go beside it. Pick Outline only when the slide is about the country as a whole, and With borders when the areas are the subject.

In design software

Open the SVG in Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma and the lines are separate paths. Fill a few areas in one tone, mute the rest, and scale the whole to a poster or a report cover; vector lines stay sharp however far you enlarge them. The With borders SVG is the better starting point when a design highlights Aleppo, Homs or Hama.

For a labelling exercise

The political blank map of Syria is the With borders version, which has the 15 areas but no names. Paste the PNG into a worksheet, number nine of them and ask pupils to write a name against each number; the list further down this page doubles as the answer key. For younger children, Outline only gives a plain shape to colour.

When you need names or colours

Names, colours, pins or a title on the map need Customise this map, which opens the same outline in the editor. For printing choices, in black and white or shaded first, see the printable map of Syria.

Questions people ask

Is there a political blank map of Syria?

Yes, the With borders version. It draws the lines between all 15 administrative areas without names, so each can be labelled from the list further down this page.

What is the difference between Outline only and With borders?

Outline only is the shape of Syria as a single outline. With borders adds the lines between the 15 administrative areas, which you need for labelling or colouring them one by one.

Which file should I use in a worksheet, a slide or a design?

Use the PNG for a worksheet or a slide, because its transparent background takes the colour behind it. Use the SVG for Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma, and the PDF to print on A4 or Letter.

How do I add names, a title or my own colours?

Choose Customise this map to open the same outline in the editor. There you can show names, colour areas, add a title on the Canvas tab and download a PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF.
