Blank map of OPEC

The outline, free as a PNG, SVG or PDF. Label it, colour it in or drop it into a slide.

Using a blank map of OPEC

A blank map of OPEC suits work that adds its own information: a slide where each member is marked with a figure, a briefing graphic, a quiz that asks for the 12 names. The page gives the land alone as Outline only, or With borders, where each member is a separate shape. Each version is a PNG on a transparent background, an SVG or a PDF.

Under your own figures

An analyst can drop the With borders PNG onto a slide and add a figure or a short label for each member in a text box. Because the background is transparent, the map takes the colour of the slide, and a dark deck works as well as a white one. If the labels are many, the SVG lets you move each one against its country in a drawing tool before you export the slide.

A quiz or a revision card

Number the 12 members on the PNG in your own worksheet and use the list further down this page as the answer sheet. For a round with a time limit, number only six. A revision card can have the outline on one side and the name on the other.

Choosing the file

The PNG suits documents and slides. The SVG suits Illustrator, Inkscape and Figma, and stays sharp when you enlarge it. The PDF on A4 or Letter is a sheet printed as it is. With borders is the political blank map of OPEC; Outline only gives a single shape of land with no borders between countries, which is better for a quiet backdrop.

More than the outline

For names, colours and a title, open the editable map of OPEC. For a printed class set, use the printable map of OPEC, which has colour and black-and-white PDFs.

How to do it in MapMaker

  1. Choose With borders to separate the 12 members, or Outline only for the land as a single shape.
  2. Download the PNG for a slide or a worksheet, or the SVG for a design tool.
  3. Pick PDF, A4 or PDF, Letter when the outline goes to the printer.
  4. Choose Customise this map for colours, names or a title, then download from the editor.

Questions people ask

Is there a political blank map of OPEC?

Yes: the With borders version. It draws the lines between the countries and puts no names on them, so each of the 12 members is a shape you can colour, number or label later.

Which countries are on the blank map of OPEC?

The 12 members: Algeria, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. They are also listed further down this page.

Can I make the outline bigger without it going blurry?

Yes, by using the SVG. As a vector file it stays sharp at any size, so the same outline works as a small icon on a slide and as a large graphic on a poster.

Can I colour the map in before I download?

Not on this page, which gives you the files as drawn. Choose Customise this map to colour the members in the editor, then download the result as a PNG, JPG or SVG from there.
